Coastal Plaza is located in the middle of Yantai’s urban coast, where nature,history, and urban multiple resources are integrated. With such a high endowment, Coastal Plaza has missed out on the urban transformation of the past decade and now has a new opportunity, not only for Coastal plaza, but also for the city of Yantai to renew its image.

Our planning strategy goes beyond the established scope to think about the future of Coastal Plaza from the scale of the bay, the city and nature, proposing our bay planning and chain city strategy to promote the formation of an integrated coastal pan-public network; taking inspiration from Yantai’s natural mountains and sea to create a landmark that showcases the city’s charm.
三大步骤，循序造境Three Strategies
一个10公顷的大型公共广场如何能成为人们的目的地？如何成为旅游发展以及山东沿海商业区的一个有吸引力的中心点？
How can a 10ha large public plaza become a destination for people and an attractive center point for tourism development as well as Shandong’s coastal business district?
公共空间- 公共空间比任何商业或文化发展都更具备吸引人们的能力。作为一个城市的公共枢纽，海滨广场具有极强的吸引力。不同的人都渴望在这里找到自己的空间。未来广场的使用者主要为三大主体，分别是外来游客、本地居民和上班族。我们以他们的个性化需求为核心，考虑他们的到达方式、游览时长、游览目的和体验方式，形成详细的空间功能数据库，极有针对性地指导我们塑造滨海。
Public space - Public space has more power to attract people than any commercial or cultural development. As a public hub of the city, the waterfront plaza has a strong attraction. Different people are eager to find their own space here. The users of the future plaza are mainly three main subjects, namely foreign tourists, local residents and office workers. We take their individual needs as the core, consider their way of arrival, time of visit, purpose of visit and way of experience, to form a detailed spatial function database, which guides us to shape the coastal area in a targeted manner.
海湾计划 - 把视野打开，跳出广场边界，我们打造一个大海湾企划，放眼整个都市湾区，纵览3.8公里的海湾。有别于自然融合历史的烟台山、东炮台和休闲宜人的天然海水浴场、月亮湾，位于中央的海滨广场则代表着烟台的城市映像，每个区域都有自己的独特表情，蕴含一系列迷人的体验，通过串联这些区域，吸引游客进一步探索我们的大海湾。
BayPlanning - Open the horizon and jump out of the square boundary, we will create a big bay project, looking at the entire urban bay area, looking across the 3.8 kilometers bay. Different from Yantai Mountain and East Port integrating nature with history as well as the leisurely and pleasant natural bathing beach and Moon Bay, the Coastal Plaza in the center represents the city image of Yantai. Each area has its own unique expression and contains a series of fascinating experiences. By connecting these areas, it attracts tourists to further explore our big bay.
奇景造境 - 伴海风而饮，枕星月入眠。烟台拥有充满想象力的山海轮廓，云移、潮汐和海市蜃楼......在滨海广场，希望将人们对自然的感知无限放大，我们提取烟台山的山海奇景意象，注入设计当中，赋予烟台海滨广场“山海浮芝，芝罘仙境”的愿景。
TreasureIsland- Drink with the sea breeze, sleep on the pillow with star and moon. Yantai has an imaginative outline of mountains and seas, cloud shifts, tides, and mirages...In Coastal Plaza, in order to infinitely magnify people's perception of nature, we extract the intent of the mountain and sea wonders of Yantai Mountain and inject it into the design, giving our site a new name which is "Treasure Island, Chefoo Mirage".
五大奇境Key Nodes Design
山灵之境 - 是烟台独特山川的重新演绎。
ScenicHill - is a node to the iconic landscape formations of Shandong province.
创造了三种穿越山灵之境的路径，带来不同的角度来感知自然幽探之径：感受林中静谧。沿海路径与海亲密对话。不同的潮水位，带来多样的亲水体验。
Three types of routes are crossing the Hill, each providing visitors with a different angle to perceive the landscape.Coastal route lays close to the waterline and is open to the elements of the sea. A place of vigorous ambience where the soft connection with the water is palpable and inviting.
海风之境- 伫立着多个地标，成为新海滨的视线焦点。
Sea breeze corridor - three landmarks are marking scenic spots of the new waterfront.
听海平台高挑向海，与海天相接。从听海平台可以俯瞰整个海滨。
A sensational experience of being elevated over the landscape, a Scenic Deck is providing majestic views over the whole Yantai Bay, howering(hovering?) high over the waters.
海湾泳池是海风之境中烟台自然岩岸的展示地。我们为潮汐赋予生命，邀请人们与水互动并享受海洋。不同的潮水位，带来多样的亲水体验。
Coastal Pool is a rocky landscape art formation in the heart of the Sea Breeze Corridor. We animate tides, invite public to interact with water & enjoy the sea. A place of vigorous ambience where the soft connection with the water is palpable and inviting.
草木之境 - 即感受葱茏的植物，收获自然的作物。
Botanic Garden & Urban Farming Platform - Hidden in between the hills lies a dreamy landscape of a Pemenial Garden.
未来的滨海广场是城市真正的中心，我们在这里创造了烟台自然的完整体验。多样的种植设计使得植物花园呈现随四季变化的景观风貌。
Toensure that a new coastal plaza becomes a true gravity point of the city we create a vision for an integral Yantai waterfront experience.
首先随着季节的转换，植物花园呈现出不同的样貌。从夏季的苍翠欲滴到秋天的丰盛金光。这也是冬天的风景胜地，常绿松柏和鲜红的山茱萸对比鲜明。在春天，繁盛的樱花和鸢尾呈现出一派浪漫的景象。
A Garden is transitioning to different characters following the change of seasons. From emerald green at summer, through hearty golds of autumn. It is a scenic place in winter with its evergreens and contrasting dogwood stems. Becoming a romantic hideout full of snowdrops and iris in the early spring.
趣游之境 - 专属于儿童，是最具互动性的游乐场地。
Joyful Playscapes – the most interactive activity pocket fully dedicated to kids.
趣游之境中散布着缤纷多样的游乐设施，为儿童带来欢乐的体验。温柔的微丘和绸带环绕着游乐园，滑梯和秋千，喷泉，流水，组成了令人愉悦的童趣乐园。
Play area is sprinkled with a variety of elements and play structures. Gentle hills and a Ribbon embrace diverse playgrounds, slides and swings, fountain, water streams forming a cheery landscape for play.
万斛之境 - 位于场地的中央，人们在次汇聚，在此庆祝，也在此聆听，在此喝彩。
EventTheatre - we place our main public plaza in the heart of a new landscape. Embraces by the Ribbon and hugged with hills - it is a sparkling diamond in our necklace of gems.
广场是多种大型公共活动的举办场所：音乐会、露天市场、舞蹈节、戏剧演出、重大节假日等等。
It is a place for major public activities, be it concert, open market, dance festival, theatre performance, major national holiday, or just a group work out in the morning - it is a beating heart of Yantai.
